Frustrations

Depending on your life stage you may be feeling frustrated with life right now.  That sort of sounds like a horoscope from the newspaper, but it’s not meant to.

I’ve had periods of my life where I’ve felt frustrated with what’s happening and what I’m doing.  I remember working in one of my first jobs in Canada many years ago.  I was proof-reading and marking up corrections on advertising copy, and checking an array of numbers against the source.  I felt like I was rotting in my job!

It seemed that my life and career goals were getting further away by the day, and it’s frustrating when you feel like you know where you  have an idea of where you want to go, what you want to do, and how you want to be, but somehow you’re not getting there. When it seems the goals keep moving further away with every small step you take towards them.

If you feel like that then it time to remind yourself to enjoy the present moment.  Realize that the journey is more important than the goal.  In fact, life is the journey and the goal is ultimately death.

If something isn’t happening right now then you’re obviously not ready for it.  When I realized this to be true, then it becasme very easy to see where I used to be in my life and why I was there – I wasn’t ready to be where I am now.

This moment in time is just as precious as any other moment in time, so treat it with the same respect.  Don’t look ahead or back to better times.

Remind yourself to learn what you can each day, and just continue to move forward, as slowly as that journey is.
