Predictions for 2011

A week and a half into 2011 and what’s changed?

How are your new year’s resolutions coming?  How will 2011 be for you?

Well, I took a look in my crystal ball, consulted the tea leaves and gazed at the starry night.  What I saw was exactly what I expected.

Let me make some predictions for 2011…

  • You will not lose the last ten pounds.
  • You will not get the raise you think you deserve.
  • You will find money on the street.
  • You will be kept waiting.
  • You will keep others waiting.
  • People will tell you “no.”
  • People will tell you “yes.”
  • You will be promised something that doesn’t happen.
  • You will be frustrated with your spouse.
  • You will be frustrated with your children.
  • You will be frustrated with your family.
  • You will be frustrated with your boss.
  • You will consider changing jobs.
  • You will buy something that will not be worth it.
  • You will pass a homeless man on the street and ignore him.
  • You will have regrets.
  • At some point you will think everyone is stupid except you.
  • You will say something you’ll regret.
  • You won’t say something you wish you had.
  • You’ll get a great deal.
  • You’ll get ripped off.
  • You will be bored.
  • You will have a life-changing experience

Okay, so I’m having a bit of fun.  But seriously, take a look at these sobering statistics:

  • 95% of people who lose weight on a diet will regain it, many gain back more.
  • 1 in 7 patients make any enduring changes around exercise or eating, following a heart attack.
  • 25% of people abandon new year’s resolutions after one week.
  • 60% of people abandon new year’s resolutions after six months.
  • The average person makes the same new year’s resolution 10 separate times without success.
  • 70% of organizational change initiatives ultimately fail.

I hope these “predictions” caused you to think about this year.  You determine what happens for you.  If you don’t take control, take the reigns ad steer your life it will be left to chance.
